Ethan Oetter is the president of Long River. Prior to founding the firm in 2018, Ethan was the chief investment officer of a large family office and charitable foundation. His professional training includes private equity investing at Sage Capital and advising endowments and corporate pensions on their hedge fund investments at Mercer.

Ethan holds a BA and MBA from Yale, where he was the top student in several classes, including Jim Chanos’ famed financial fraud class, and captained the varsity squash team. While at Yale, Ethan studied under two Nobel prize-winning economists.

Investing has been his passion since discovering Warren Buffett’s shareholder letters at age 15.

Ethan serves on the boards of the Professional Squash Association (finance committee) and the Alzheimer’s Caregiver Club (treasurer).
