Lower Farmington | Farmicut | Greater Hartford | Lower CT
The Lower Farmington Peace and tranquility abound in the Farmington Valley. Trip departs along RT 4 in Farmington. This section offers approximately 10 miles of flat water with clean sandy bottoms. As you paddle north to your right is the shadow of Metacomet Trail, and Hublein Tower. Along the way you will see Great Blue Herrings, red tail hawks bull frogs ,and osprey. Tuan once saw a whole flock of snowy white egrets just hanging out in the trees. On hot summer days you can look forward to spotting Eastern Painted Turtles, and maybe you will see an otter. The river flows past 4 golf courses along the way, so remember to bring your golf ball retriever. There are many great spots for you to stop and enjoy the scenery, take a dip in the river and have some lunch. One of the best is 7 miles into the trip where you can stop for lunch at the Pinchott Sycamore, Connecticut’s oldest tree. This trip can take anywhere from 3-5 hours. Remember to pack a lunch and plenty of beverages. Guided trips very on the scheduled time and location. Call to make a reservation 860-688-2628
