A letter from the owner::
Valued Guest,
Thank you for taking time for a brief Long Riveducation. Full of
knowledge from having managed a local canoe and kayak shop located in
New Hartford for 4 years and working there 8 summers prior to that.
During the summer of 2000 I was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and
it was near fatal. The only cure was to start a business of my own. After years of inquiry and
frequent brain storming discussions with a great friend from the local
pizza shop. The decision was made to open a business that allowed me
to do what I loved most, a kayak and canoe rental company. I
incorporated Long River Adventures in the winter of 2002.
In the fall of 2002,
I started down the path of entrepreneurship. After making a few calls,
I learned that the University of Hartford offered a
Entrepreneurial Class. This is a 16 week course in the
fundamentals of business start up and operation. This valuable class
got me started on the right track to founding Long River LLC. I would
recommend it to any person looking to start a small business. That
winter I went to Hartford and incorporated the company. I spent the
following spring getting all the proverbial "ducks in a row". Due to
the non-lucrative profession of canoe shop management, I needed to
raise some money to get the ball rolling. I was able to get some start
up money from South
Hartford Initiative a Hartford based loan company. I was on my
way.
With awesome canoes and kayaks that
have a fantastic red and yellow swirl coloring and a staff that would
rival the staff of the big boys Long River's story began. I look
forward to a wonderful summer
with great weather and great friendships both old and new. Feel free
to call me on my personal phone line 860-209-0733 or
email me,
any time. I'd love to talk to you about what Long River can do to
assist you in paddling and enjoying the great outdoors.
Sincerely,
Tuan Duong
